A laminated board runs down the chest, ruled into rows, a small round icon beside each one. Most
rows carry a plain grey block where a name would sit. One row breaks the pattern: a red-bordered tag,
fully legible. `REMMY`.

That's not how it's spelled anywhere else in the house. It's just how it's spelled here.

## Why does a name even need to go up on a board at all?

Because whoever's on shift that day needs to check who's in the building fast, without pulling a
file for every animal.

A daycare running different staff on different days needs attendance readable at a glance, so names
go up on a shared board in strips that get slotted in and swapped as animals come and go. Whoever
first made his strip typed what they thought they heard, and that strip has been reused every day
since.

## Why has nobody just fixed the one letter?

Because fixing it means printing a new strip, and a wrong strip that already works for attendance
purposes doesn't get flagged as broken.

The board's whole job is matching a name to a pen or a room fast enough to tick a box, and `REMMY`
does that just as well as the version spelled correctly would. Nobody checking him in is reading the
strip as a record of his actual name — they're reading it as a slot that's already claimed, which

## What's the right way to draw a mistake like this on a shirt?

Plain and exact — the tag copied precisely, letter for letter, is the whole design, and any
correction anywhere on the print would undo the point of it.

Everything around the tag stays deliberately unreadable — grey blocks standing in for the other
names on the board — so the one legible strip has nowhere to hide. A single wrong tag against a
column of blanks reads instantly; the same tag lost among other legible names would just look like a
busy roster.

## Who owns the wording on a strip like this?

Nobody — a name printed on a laminated slot label isn't anyone's registered material, and a private
misspelling invented for one animal carries no such claim either way.

Copying an actual daycare chain's branded board, logo and layout included, would be a different
question entirely and their design to license. This print invents its own board from scratch, which
sidesteps that question rather than testing it.

## Does this only work for a mistake this specific?

The shape generalises past the exact letter — any small, repeated, low-stakes error a system keeps
making about him fits the same design.

## Does it print well?

Cleanly — the tag's the only element that needs to stay crisp, and it's a simple bordered rectangle
of solid type.

The surrounding blocks can run coarser and looser without hurting the design, since they're meant to
read as unreadable rather than as fine detail. Butter yellow, oat or dusty plum all let a red-bordered
tag sit forward against black. Two colours carry the whole print.
