Nothing else is on the surface — no fabric, no second tool, no marking beyond the two lines and the shears. The table is otherwise bare, which is what makes the doubled outline the only thing there is to read.
Why would a table end up with two outlines of the same piece instead of one?
Because a first attempt at chalking a pattern piece doesn't always land exactly where it's meant to, and re-chalking a line is faster than rubbing the old one out.
A piece gets marked directly against the fabric or the table underlay, and a small shift — the grain running slightly off, a piece nudged over to save cloth — is enough reason to chalk it again rather than lift the first attempt entirely. A piece drafted from a purchased, named pattern belongs to whoever wrote it, the same way words someone put on their own shirt belong to them and nobody else belong to the person who wrote them. A line chalked directly by the person doing the cutting is theirs to draw over as many times as they like, with no name attached for anyone to license.
Would the same idea work for a different kind of table entirely?
Any surface that gets marked and used again before it's properly cleared ends up carrying the same kind of overlap — a workbench, a chopping board, a whiteboard wiped in a hurry.
It's a close cousin of a repair stitched in whatever thread happened to be on hand rather than something bought to match — both are evidence of a decision made in the middle of a job, left legible afterward because nobody went back to tidy it once the job was done.

A table gets chalked, cut, and brushed down by whatever amount actually happens before the next job goes on it, and "brushed down" is rarely total. What's left isn't a decision to keep the old line. It's what's left after nobody specifically removed it, and on a table that gets used every day, that's ordinary.
Does it print well?
Yes — the table's own edge doubles as the print's edge, so the hard rectangle reads as a surface rather than a frame glued around unrelated art.
A warm sand garment leaves room around the table's edges rather than crowding the whole back. Two inks close the palette: charcoal for the table, chalk white for the two outlines. The shears sit inside the charcoal as tonal shading rather than a separate colour. Because it's a back print meant to be read from a few steps away, the two overlapping lines are kept crisp and distinct rather than softened together — the overlap is the point, so it has to still read as two lines up close.
