What is this, exactly?

A bow shackle is two pieces: a curved body and a threaded pin that closes it. Assembled, it's a connector rated for a specific load. Withdrawn, it's a piece of shaped metal and a bolt, and the exploded view exists to show that the rating belongs to the pair working together, not to either half alone.

Why does the stamped number matter more than the shape around it?
