One number changed, and every shape complied
A clock and a window-shaped panel stretched sideways by the same exact amount, so the one shape everybody can judge on sight — a circle — proves nothing here was spared.

A clock face, pulled wide into an oval. Beside it, a low rectangular panel — a horizon, a rising sun, banded rays underneath — pulled exactly as wide as the clock was.
Nothing in the print is round. Nothing in it is square either.
One dimension was overruled to fit a space, and the picture had no way to argue back.
Why does the clock look like an oval instead of a circle?
Because a circle is the one shape almost anyone can judge correct without a ruler, and stretching a picture sideways turns every circle in it into the same kind of oval.
Most shapes need a reference to look wrong — you'd need to have seen the original poster or photograph to notice its rectangle got a little wider. A circle needs no reference at all; everybody already knows what round looks like. That's why the clock is the part that gives the fault away first, before anyone has even looked at what's next to it.
How do you know it isn't just the clock that's wrong?
Because the panel beside it is stretched by the exact same amount, and a fault that repeats identically across two unrelated shapes isn't a property of either shape.
A clock face and a horizon-and-sun panel have nothing to do with each other. If the clock alone were off, you could blame the clock — a bad drawing, an odd design choice. Instead both objects carry the identical proportion of stretch, which means the fault belongs to whatever held them both, not to either one. One width number was changed; height was left alone; everything sitting inside that space complied without exception, because neither picture had a say in it.
Where does this actually happen?
Wherever a picture has to fill a box of a fixed size that doesn't match the picture's own proportions, and the fastest fix is to force it rather than resize it properly.
A packaging panel, a banner slot, a product tile — somewhere there's a rectangle of an exact width and an exact height that has to be filled completely, and the artwork dropped into it was drawn to different proportions. Forcing the art to fit is one line of settings; remaking the art to fit is a much longer job. The stretch is what's left over from whichever one somebody had time for, in the same way a hard rectangle around artwork gives away exactly where the machine's own reach ran out — a limit belonging to the space, showing up in the picture.
Why is this worse than a crop?
Because a crop removes something and marks the loss with a visible edge; a stretch keeps every part of the picture and changes what shape each part is, with no edge anywhere to mark where.
A cropped picture tells you plainly that it used to be bigger — there's a cut line, and you can imagine what continued past it. A stretched picture keeps the whole composition, the whole clock, the whole horizon, and quietly changes their proportions instead. Nothing is missing to point at; everything is present, and subtly untrue to itself.
Who owns a stretched clock and a stretched sunset panel?
Nobody but whoever drew them — a clock face and a horizon graphic are both plain, common forms, not anyone's registered artwork.
Neither icon here reproduces a real product, a real interface or a real illustrator's design; both were drawn for this print specifically, with no maker's mark anywhere on them. A stretched circle is still just a circle that's been stretched. Style has no owner. A work does.
Isn't this the same fault as an enlarged thumbnail, or a photographed poster?
No — those distort by growing or by depth; this one distorts by direction, and only one direction.
A thumbnail blown up past its size grows evenly in both directions at once and turns detail into soft blocks — shape survives; sharpness doesn't. A poster photographed at an angle distorts more the further a point sits from the camera. Here there's no depth and no enlargement, just one axis pulled wide and the other left exactly as it was, applied equally across the whole frame regardless of where anything sits in it.
Does it print well?
Yes — the stretch itself doesn't hurt it; the thin lines inside each graphic are what need care.
Flat orange and flat cream, hard edges throughout, is the easy case for fabric, and stretching a hard edge sideways is still a hard edge. What wants watching is the fine internal detail — the clock's hour marks, the panel's banded rays — since a horizontal pull without a matching vertical pull can leave some of those lines thinner in one direction than the other. Drawn a touch heavier than the source, they hold evenly. Charcoal suits both colours; two inks throughout.
